What's On Your Plate
What’s on Your Plate is an international virtual art exhibit that invites young people to express what food means to them through painted paper plates. Each artwork tells a personal story of what’s shared around the table: a grandmother’s recipe, a celebration dish, or a taste of home. Featuring plates from the United States, Honduras, and India, and soon expanding to additional countries, the exhibit transforms a simple meal into a global dialogue about identity, connection, and sustainability.
Founded by food justice advocate Zane Tickoo (New Canaan High School, CT; Art for Change/FoodSphere Club) and high school student Taran Hakoo (Westmont High School, CA), What’s on Your Plate began as a collaboration to connect youth around the world through food and art. The exhibit was enriched by the creativity and dedication of Miss Sophie Castillo and her students at English Castle School in Honduras, whose contributions helped bring the Honduran collection to life.
If you or your students would like to be included, we’d love to hear from you. Our goal is to grow this exhibit to reflect the richness and diversity of our truly global food system.
